In 1997 I finished my graduate degree at Yale as a classical bassist. Having already performed over 1000 concerts I had become somewhat disenchanted with the world of classical music. Fortunately, my roommates at Yale were all photo majors. Determined to learn everything I possibly could, I switched gears and launched headfirst into photography. For seven years I worked for some of the world’s best photographers. On my own I experimented heavily with a variety of shooting styles and unconventional techniques. Recognizing I had gained all I could as the assistant, in 2004 I moved to Milan to begin my career as the photographer. Three years in Italy reinforced my desire to innovate. I sought to create images that would empower and invigorate even the strongest of celebrity personalities and brands. In London, I fell into frequent work with Harper’s Bazaar, where I photographed a number of celebrities and solidified my shooting style, now an effective balance of creativity and pragmatism. After 2 decades in NYC I now call North Carolina my home. Now the photographer, an entrepreneur and artist, I carry my music through my images, and continuously seek to invent new ways of seeing.
